Berks County Coverlet ,1846
Early cream and green coverlet made by John Kachel of Berks County Pennsylvania dated 1846 and 1847. This weaver is known to have worked from 1809-1889.From my reaserch there are at least 19 known coverlets made by this weaver.Central floral design with doves and baskets with a large flower around the boarders.Actually it is even nice in person.
MORE This sampler descended in the West-Shinn-Lippincott family of Burlington County, and per family provenance was worked as a family record memorial by Anna West(born 1815) upon the death of her grandfather William West ,who died 1828 in Burlington County. The sampler chronicles the grandparent's record of William West (who was born to Bartholomew West and Susannah Lippincott Shinn) and his wife grandmother Ann Stout; as well as the samplermaker's parents John West and Lydia Hammell. Samplermaker Anna was 1 of 8 children born to John and Lydia. The sampler is large(appx 17x22) and very vibrant, conserved in its original frame.
