Dated Dough Box 1844

A very early form this dough box dated on the bottom "1844" but it probably predates that date by at least 20 years it originally was painted red then green (the date is in green) the green paint is covered by a very blackened varnish or shellac I suppose it could be cleaned back down to the green. The top has an old repaired split and the bottom of the lid is missing one of the battens.
