1840-1860s New Jersey Paintings
I wish I knew the complete history on these, they are both marked on the back Camden & Amboy railroad. I think they might have hung in one of the stations there are painted on board and quite early. The Camden Amboy railroad was the first railroad in the U.S.they remind me of the state of new Jersey seal. In need of some restoration but that wouldn`t take much and it would be well worth it. Maybe Ill have them done if they don`t sell. 795.00 for the pair

Scott Family Fraktur
Rare New Jersey fraktur by fraktur artist Elias Slack, Slack is mentioned in an article written by David Mcgrail titled "Late Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Century Illuminated Documents" it was published in a book on New Jersey History. Another work by Slack is shown in this article. It is believed that Slack was a Burlington County resident this Fraktur is signed by him. I found Moore Scott on the Mormon reasearch site but still am unclear where exactly he was born,am still working on that.New Jersey fraktur is always rare this one is in good condition with great color except where the black ink deteriorated the paper where it was used this is a problem that does sometime occur with the use of that type of ink. All in all very appealing framed and ready to be hung sight size 12" x 7 1/4".POR

New Jersey Birth Record
Rare birth record of the Smith family of Essex County New Jersey circa 1800. This fraktur has been professionally conserved and framed, sight size is aprox. 12" x 10" .Given the common surname I had little luck identifying this particular family doing a genealogical search but I did find the youngest son Thomas born Oct 16th 1800 in Orange, Essex Co. Also I did find Smiths all over the state including Englewood, Essex County the area that this family resided. Really a nice piece with good color, decorated with birds, vines, flowers ect. A couple minor losses but all in all a very nice. 3500.00

1809 New Jersey Quaker Family History
Very interesting and rare technique of reverse drawing, black ink was used to fill in around the lettering and decoration, that was un-inked or natural , it must have been very difficult to achieve successfully. I have a good size file of family history John and Ann lived in Waterford Township but probably had roots in Burlington Co. Still in its original frame that is 11 3/4" x 10" mounted on acid free board. 4750.00 |
