18th Century Burlington Co. New Jersey Fraktur

Fraktur art, a form of German folk art featuring decorative lettering and designs, is known to have been practiced in New Jersey, though its origins are primarily in Pennsylvania. German-speaking immigrants brought Fraktur with them to America, and it became popular in Pennsylvania German communities, especially for documents like birth and baptism certificates. While most Fraktur art originated in Pennsylvania, it was also created by German-speaking immigrants who settled throughout other regions, including New Jersey
