Rare 18th Century SJ Hunting Horn Whimsey

Year: Late 18th Century

Weight: 2 lbs

One of three that I know of, extremely rare whimsey from the late 18thcentury more than likely made in Alloway at the Wistarburgh glass works aka The United Glass Company established in 1739. Id say this comes from the later days there. Made from a good quality clear glass only produced in limited quantity as window and bottle glass was the main production. Included in the picture is a candle stick made in a similar hollow fashion. The offhand "fancy" glass made there was diverse showing the creativity and skill of the gaffers employed. A broken example is in the collection of the  Salem Co Historical Society.
