Rare SJ Bleeding cup late 18th early 19th century. Theres a strong possibility this was made at the Wistarburgh glass works,they were known to make off hand medical related items. This comes with a contemporary copy made by the Wheaton Village glass Blowers in 1992. These are part of a small early collection I purchased this past summer. This collector picked strictly in Salem, Atlantic and Goucester County.

 An 18th-century bleeding cup was a medical instrument, typically made of glass, pewter, or bronze, used during the widely practiced procedure of bloodletting. These cups were a key component of "cupping" therapy, designed to draw blood to the surface of the skin.
