American folk art pitcher in the form of a realistic tree trunk painted appropriately with bark, vines,oak leaves ,acorns,sawed off stumps showing the trees rings and an applied deer head poking out in the front it hard to find a better example. The photo does not do it justice its a large pitcher (about 11") with good color and painted details.NEW information found a signed pitcher almost identical to this has turned up signed "John Fritz" He worked at the Shaker Pottery in Amana Iowa circa 1856-1900.
